A Day at the Education Business Awards and Networking Event
David Randlesome, National Sales Manager for Water, Matthew Saunders, National Sales Manager for Ventilation, and Aaron Whiting, Technical Sales Consultant for Water, had the pleasure of attending the Education Business Awards and Networking event on June 14th.
The team started the day early with each member taking a train to London from their respective locations: Matthew from Rayleigh Station, David from Amersham, and Aaron from Hornchurch. They met up in the historic area of St. Pauls and were delighted to enjoy the beautiful London sunshine throughout the day.
The three proceeded to the venue carrying their stand, pop-up, and merchandise. David mentioned that they felt comfortable at the Leonardo Hotel since they were an authorized supplier of the Jurys Inn Group. All three were suited and booted, with Aaron Whiting sporting Batman braces and cufflinks that caught the attention of many attendees!
The day started with the team setting up the stand with pop-up banners. “Our stand was next to NASEN (National Association for Special Educational Needs) and opposite BESA (British Educational Supplier Association), so we had an opportunity to have a chat with these two organisations prior to the door opening,” Matt added.
“On our stand, we had a competition to win a bottle of champagne, the draw was made this week and we’re currently waiting to hear back from the lucky winner!” Said Matt.
There was a quiz sheet distributed to every attendee – with the answer to every question to be found at each of the stands; our question was:
Q: How thick must the grease level be in your school’s kitchen extract system before you need to have it cleaned to be compliant with the BESA TR19®Grease specification?
a) 200 microns – Half the thickness of a standard business card
b) 400 microns – The thickness of one standard business card
c) 800 microns – The thickness of two standard business cards
(Answer at the bottom of this article!)
The doors were opened for general attendees at 11:30 am. Champagne and pastries were distributed, creating an enjoyable atmosphere to kick off the event.
Following the networking reception, everyone took their seats in the main hall where a deliciousle three-course meal was served at 1 pm, setting the stage for the highly anticipated awards ceremony. David said, “At our table, we had the pleasure of sharing the experience with two distinguished deputy heads from Redden Court School in Havering Essex, along with two esteemed representatives from St Damian’s RC Science College in Lancashire, and two from St Andrews Catholic School.” He added, “This meant that we were all on our best behaviour!”
Donna Fraser OBE presented the awards, with toastmaster Rueben hosting the event; “He was amazing” added David, “he really got the crowd going with plenty of jokes and chatter.”
It was then time for Swiftclean to present their sponsored award, with David heading to the stage to present the prize. A huge congratulations to St Damian’s RC Science College Lancashire who won the Swiftclean sponsored category which was ‘outstanding progress award (secondary)’.
Once the awards were wrapped up, it was time to pack up the stand and head home via the respective train stations, albeit feeling merry in the London sunshine.
The event was a resounding success! All attendees were brimming with excitement at the opportunity to be there.
