Helping the Langley Trust stay free from Legionella
For some years, our teams have been providing Legionella services for Langley Trust, with whom we have established a long-lasting working partnership. From Lancaster in the North, to homes across the Midlands, South of England and South Coast, Swiftclean helps 115 of the Trust’s properties across the UK to stay Legionella free.
Langley Trust is a Christian charity which provides housing and support for people with convictions; helping them to transform their lives. The Trust provides accommodation and a range of support services for men and women leaving prison; promoting rehabilitation; preventing crime; and reducing re-offending. There is now a less than 3 percent rate of reoffending amongst clients while in the Trust’s care.

The trust operates a widely diverse range of properties, from 2 bedroomed terraced houses to care homes, including a 38-bed care home for people with multiple and complex care needs. We provide regular Legionella Risk Assessments; Legionella Monitoring; regulation of water temperature using thermostatic mixing valves; and local outlet flushing, disinfection and retesting services.
With ‘Responsible’ as one of its core values, Langley Trust takes the welfare and safety of its many clients very seriously. Clients typically spend 3 or 4 months in Langley Trust properties, whilst being helped to register with their local Council, put in touch with housing providers and helped towards finding employment. It is vital that clients feel safe in the Trust’s accommodation, having left a harsher custodial setting. The Trust therefore is committed to ensuring that it meets all its legal responsibilities with regard to the ACoP L8 and legionella prevention and control.
As ‘Responsibility’ is one of our central tenets, it has been very rewarding to forge a close relationship with Langley Trust. Their property managers can rely on Swiftclean, as service provider, to effectively manage Legionella compliance on their behalf, allowing them to concentrate on more immediate issues that may arise.

Mark Chute, Buildings Manager South for Langley Trust said, “Swiftclean have looked after our Legionella compliance for us for some years now. They tell us when checks are due, then they come to site, complete the work and send us detailed reports afterwards, so we can demonstrate our compliance.”
As well as helping to fulfil the Trust’s legal obligations for Legionella compliance, our Legionella prevention work has a direct impact on Langley Trust’s CQC (Quality Car Commission) ratings, which are published for each property in the Trust’s portfolio. The Trust receives ratings of Good from the CQC for its many care facilities.
Our long track record as a member of the Legionella Control Association, which is reviewed and endorsed by the LCA each year, helps to ensure that the Trust’s is outstanding in its Legionella compliance.
