Introducing our Service Delivery Field Management Team

Our field management team is pivotal to our delivery process, supporting our on-site crews across the UK, and being the link to the office service delivery team. They ensure excellent communication across our teams, and are an important source of information and training for newer employees.

Recently this team has grown to include a field operations manager, Simon Frost, who we catch up with in this blog. Also in the team, which is headed by Chloe Nicholls our Head of Operations, is Richard Dove our National Compliance Manager, and three team leaders, one of whom is Jason Heaps, who we catch up with as well.

Jason – Northern & Midlands Team Leader

Jason (l) and Lee (r)

“My job role is a challenge as every day is different; one day I might be on-site working with one of my teams overseeing a large project, the next day I might be out on-site on my own completing audits on works completed, or I might be working from home carrying out administration such as post clean verification reports or desktop auditing. I find the most rewarding part of my job is getting to spend time with different teams and meeting new people when out on site.”

Jason added, “My biggest achievement at Swiftclean so far is getting into the management position I am in today. I started working on a casual basis for Swiftclean and was taken on full time as an operative, before working my way up to supervisor and on to the team leader position I am in today.”

“My biggest challenge in the eight years of being at Swiftclean was at a new large hospital site in West Yorkshire,” says Jason, “the job included completing fire damper surveys to locate all the fire dampers throughout the whole site without any drawings or schematics of the systems on-site.

Richard – National Compliance Manager

We asked Richard what’s the most rewarding part of his job role, or what does he enjoy the most?

“Resolving issues, particularly on-site access issues,” confirms Richard, “It feels good to go and show clients and our teams, a way of working around things to get to 100% compliance. The technical sales team and office-based staff call me daily to get my expert advice which feels good. Also being in the press is another rewarding element of my role – I was recently featured in an article for Swiftclean in the Bursar’s Review.”

What’s your biggest achievement at Swiftclean so far?

“Coming up to 20 years of service is a pretty big one, I am part of the furniture at Swiftclean;” says Richard, “I started as an operative and worked my way up the ladder to National Compliance Manager.” Richard also won Team Player of the Year 2023, at our annual awards celebration last summer.

What is or has been your biggest challenge?

“Enabling great communication with the site teams can often be a challenge, sometimes it’s easier than other times” Richard considers, “this is mainly due to different locations and shift patterns as we can be like passing ships in the night.”

Simon – Field Operations Manager

We caught up with Simon to find out what his usual day can look like…

“Emails, phone calls, and collating stats for the previous week and the coming week is how my day can usually begin,” says Simon, adding “I am currently looking towards completing our annual LCA Audit submission.

This meant that today I had a catch-up with the surveying team, following a desktop auditing session on our legionella risk assessments. This follows a site visit that I had with a Legionella Risk Assessor, Nigel, on site in Bradford. In the coming weeks, I am helping to onboard a new key account client near Watford, working with another of our team, Richard Crews to ensure that the contract gets off to a flying start.”

When we asked Simon what the most rewarding part of his job role is, he was quick to reply that it was the team he works with.

“Getting to know the team leaders professionally and personally, and getting out and about, talking to people on site,” said Simon, who started at Swiftclean late last year. “I’ve also enjoyed learning about new systems and processes and been able to implement new ways of working too”.
