Swiftclean 4 People
Swiftclean, now in its 43rd year, prides itself on being a respected employer and strives for continuous improvement by enhancing our employees’ working environment and work-life balance.
Swiftclean is very much an open-door policy type of company, where everyone is accessible from the Managing Director to the Finance team, to the Operational management team. Despite being spread out nationwide across the county, Swiftclean still maintains the ‘big enough to cope, small enough to care ethos’ with most staff knowing everyone’s names, and new starters spending time with directors during their induction.
Our induction process has undergone a complete overhaul within the past year, with all inductions taking place at our head office, and spanning two weeks, as a minimum and including both internal and external training in most cases.
We even have a specific strategic plan ‘4 Growth’ in place which focuses on four key areas of the business, one called ‘4 People’ in which a team focuses on improving morale and retention of our people throughout the company.

Highlighted below are a few of the changes we have implemented through the strategic focus on employment/staff matters:
- Introduction of an annual companywide event, including an awards ceremony – voted by staff for staff.
- Introduced an annual employee feedback survey where feedback is presented to the board along with proposals for change/ improvement.
- Following staff suggestions, we implemented an increased holiday entitlement
- Awards for length of service and celebration of milestone events
- Detailed & improved induction process
- Additional training (internal and external) and the introduction of monthly workshops
- Company profit share scheme

We introduced a mental health first aider in 2023, with our HR Business partner taking on this role, and the business currently supports her with a counselling qualification to complement this role within the business.
We run regular monthly workshops for management and the wider workforce on various subjects, some as refresher courses, and some workshops are on topics put forward by the broader team. Our schedule for 2025 includes training workshops on wellbeing, confidence building, self-awareness and conflict resolution, to name but a few.

Our ‘4 People’ strategy is now in the hands of a new team, and we eagerly anticipate the inspiring improvements that 2025 will bring for the whole company.
