World Ventil8 Day 8th November

World Ventil8 Day is observed annually on November 8th to raise awareness about the importance of ventilation in promoting the health and well-being of individuals. This day also aims to recognize and celebrate the contributions of the ventilation and indoor air quality community.

Swiftclean is passionate about clean air in buildings, and we want to celebrate and raise awareness of this year’s theme which is ‘Enabling Action’.

To effectively enable action, to either improve indoor air quality or shout about clean air in a building, you first need to test duct cleanliness to ensure that clean ducts are transporting clean air around your building(s). It’s important to remember the impact of ventilation’s role in healthy buildings and a healthy life.

After conducting testing and analysis, you can develop a plan to enhance ventilation in your buildings, whether they are a home, school, workplace, or social space.

There are three levels of cleanliness verification detailed in the industry Specification ‘TR19 Air’. In all cases the primary method of assessment is visual.

They are defined as ‘acceptable dust accumulation’ in newly installed ductwork, ‘acceptable contamination levels’ in existing ductwork, and ‘acceptable post-clean level’ for ductwork following a cleaning operation.

If the visual method of assessment cannot be used as a reliable source of verification of cleanliness the European Vacuum Test (EVT) should be utilised.

EVT Testing & sampling

Test locations should be agreed upon with the client, and they must be given the opportunity to witness the tests taking place.

If post-clean testing is specified to verify that cleanliness is acceptable post-work, the test must be carried out immediately after cleaning – ideally the very same day as the cleaning operation was carried out.

Samples must be taken from the bottom surface of a horizontal section of ductwork.

We recommend sending all filters off to an independent, certified laboratory for analysis and results – this usually takes between 7-10 working days.
