Meet the Team – Gina – Accounts Assistant

Welcome to the next in our series of Meet the Team, where we find out some more unusual facts about our new starters to the Swiftclean team!

Name: Gina Evans

Job title: Accounts Assistant

Date joined Swiftclean: May 2026

What’s the best thing you did recently?

I became a grandma for the first time to my beautiful granddaughter Emme.

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?

I’d love to learn to bake cakes that are actually edible! Apparently I’m a great cook but my baking ‘skills’ are non-existent.

What was your first job?

It was as a sales representative for a printing company, travelling around the home counties.  I went for a job as an estimator and was told to come back when I got my driving licence as they wanted me out on the road. Not sure they expected me to get it within 3 weeks but they kept their word and gave me a job!

Do you have any pets? What are they?

I have five cats, four of which are rescues plus a freeloading stray called Nigel who has been visiting us for 3 years. He won’t come into the house so we built him one in the garden. He happily eats the food and treats we give him and thanks us with the occasional hiss!

What book or movie have you recently read/seen and why would you recommend it?

I really enjoyed the film Eat, Pray, Love. It’s based on a true story and follows a woman who totally abandons her comfy but mundane lifestyle to travel around Italy, India and Bali and finds fun, spirituality and emotional balance.  A really easy and uplifting watch with a bit of humour thrown in.

Do you have any hidden talents or unusual hobbies?

I used to create and sell bridal tiaras and hair accessories but now it’s a hobby that I do to relax from time to time, or just for friends or family who are getting married.

Are you a morning or night owl?

In the last few years I have become a morning person and get up at 5am each day. I like to ease into the day with a bit of calm and it’s great not to be running around in chaos every morning like I used to!

What person inspires you outside of work?

My daughter inspires me – she’s a daily reminder of what really matters and that being grateful for what you already have in your life is the key to feeling happy.

What is your 15 minutes of fame?

I went to Italian School in Rome in 2024 and won an award for star pupil at the age of 55. I had to stand up and give a thank you speech in Italian which was more than nerve-wracking!

What’s the best advice you’ve ever heard?

Never take criticism from someone you wouldn’t go to for advice.

What’s your favourite travel destination?

Since I started learning Italian it has to be anywhere in Italy.  Short city breaks or long lazy holidays on the Amalfi Coast.

What has surprised you about the job in the first few days?

I’ve been surprised by how gradually everything comes together. I’m used to being thrown in at the deep end so having time to ease into the role and understand the processes has been a refreshingly different experience.
