As a family run company with a 35-year track record, we feel a strong sense of community; within our own organisation; across our industry; and towards the wider communities in which we work. Our sense of dedication and commitment results in positive actions which have won us awards; gained the endorsement of public bodies, trade associations and other commercial organisations; and earned us a great reputation with customers, our own teams, media outlets and local interest groups. Below are just some of the ways in which we continue to make a difference.
Our Managing Director, Gary Nicholls has made two Himalayan Treks for charity. The first of these in 2012 was for the charity ‘MIND’ and the second in 2016 was for Super Charlie, a little boy who has Stage 4 High Risk Neuroblastoma cancer. Gary raised funds for Super Charlie’s parents to raise £100K for trials in the USA.

Swiftclean sponsored Nobles Food staff members on their mammoth Mansfield to Monte Carlo bike ride.
Starting on Monday 5th June, they cycled from Mansfield, the location of their largest feed mill, Belle Eau Park, and finished in Monte Carlo, Monaco on Friday 16th June.
Their cyclists travelled across 3 countries: UK, France and Monaco; covering 1,070 miles with a total climb of 42,600ft!
Swiftclean sponsored a 24 hour doubles tennis match at a local tennis club to raise funds for Parkinson’s disease.
Swiftclean sponsors a young, local horsewoman aiming for the top. Summer Nicholls has recently qualified for the Mitsubishi Motors Cup (previously known as the Mitsubishi Motors ‘Grassroots’ Championships). This prestigious series and Championship offer ‘amateur’ riders the chance to qualify and compete at one of the world’s most famous sporting venues – The Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials.
Rochford Hundred truly is a community club and Swiftclean is proud to support them. Our MD, Gary Nicholls captained the Colts at age of 16 and represented Essex at age of 21.
The girl’s football team at Glebe School was in need of a new kit. Swiftclean supplied this for them and also set up a training session for the girls with a member of our Sales team who is an ex- professional footballer.
At Swiftclean we’ve been at the forefront of training in our own industry, helping to produce highly skilled technicians. We put more people through BESA’s pioneering Green Book Training Scheme than the rest of our industry combined, and have been instrumental in developing the new Trailblazer Apprenticeships which later replaced Green Book.
We like to develop our own home-grown talent, so we train and support a number of new employees through Business Apprenticeships. All our employees have personal development plans and we invest heavily in training to enable them to achieve their full potential.
We like to help the next generation too, and at local schools in our head office area we’ve also been involved in mentoring teenagers, helping by conducting mock interviews and giving advice and support in getting ready for work. We also supported an interschool’s business competition, and we hope that we’ll get to meet some of those young people in the workplace in the not too distant future.
We have recently installed new double glazed windows and a low energy lighting system at our head office which has helped to reduce our annual electricity and gas consumption. This saves on running costs and, more importantly, reduces our carbon footprint.
Swiftclean has recently invested in a brand new building extension featuring 3 new meeting rooms which include a state of the art video conferencing system. This has reduced the need for travel between the various company offices. It has also allowed us to expand and create several new jobs in the local area thanks to its additional resources.
ISO14001, the international environmental standard was achieved in 2009 and has helped us to improve our environmental performance through more efficient use of resources and reduction of waste.
In recent years our senior executives have been in demand in helping to raise standards across the industry. Our MD, Gary Nicholls, was a member of the steering committee which helped to draft the current BESA* TR/19 guidelines which help to keep the UK’s ventilation systems clean and compliant. We also had input into the drafting of its predecessors; TR/17 and an earlier draft of TR/19. Swiftclean additionally helped to draft the BSRIA** guidance document BG49/2013, which also reinforces similar requirements to TR/19. Our Group Service Delivery Director, Julia Argles, is a member of the Executive Committee of BESA’s Service and Facilities Group and the BESA Safety Focus initiative committee.
Our team regularly works with the London Fire Brigade, helping to inform and train the Brigade’s fire prevention officers on how to check for and enforce compliance on kitchen extract cleaning in accordance with TR/19; and fire damper testing in compliance with BS:9999.
Swiftclean is the location of one of very few training centres providing BESA accredited training courses in ventilation hygiene for operatives and supervisors from many other organisations beside our own, so we’re helping to raise standards across the industry too.
