Ventilation hygiene and compliance

Dirty ventilation is not only unhealthy; it’s also more expensive to run. Clean ventilation systems help a building’s occupants remain healthy, and that means better attendance, less absence and greater productivity in commercial buildings. Dirty fan blades consume more electricity, so a clean system is more economical too.

There are three simple steps to a healthy ventilation system:

1. Inspect your ventilation system. It’s too easy for the ventilation system to be out of sight and out of mind. How do you know when your system needs cleaning? Sometimes it’s obvious, but if you’re not sure, it’s even more important to call in an expert.

2. Clean away the build up of dust and fibres when they exceed the recommended units. Your usual cleaning team will not be able to do this for you as it has to be carried out in accordance with British Standard BS EN 15780 and TR/19 guidelines. Our compliance technicians will help you to provide a healthy indoor environment and meet your obligations as a responsible person.

3. Comply with TR/19 guidelines and British Standard BS EN 15780. How often you need to inspect, test and clean your system will depend on which of the different classifications your system falls into according to its use. An expert will help you to determine which category applies and what you need to do to comply.

If you’re not sure if you’re compliant, we have two online Compliance Checkers to put you in the picture fast; our Ventilation Compliance Checker and our Air Handling Compliance Checker.
