Fire Damper Awareness Training

Fire dampers are crucial passive fire protection components that help to prevent the quick and dangerous spread of fire and smoke through the ductwork of a building.

It is now a legal requirement for all fire dampers to be tested at least once every year although, in healthcare settings, they may need to be checked more regularly.

Our training will teach you:

  • How to identify the most commonly found fire and smoke dampers.
  • How to create an inventory of the location of all fire dampers within a building.
  • How to spot signs of corrosion, damage and obstructions.
  • How to ‘drop’ test a fire damper to check effectiveness.
  • How to clean channels and runners.
  • How to reset a damper.
  • How to create a report which details all locations, maintenance, agreed repairs and replacements as well as any recommendations and detailed exception reports on any failures.
