Welcoming Change: Swiftclean Promotes Three New Directors to the Team
At Swiftclean, we are always eager to promote from within our team. This approach allows our employees to transfer their valuable experience and knowledge into new roles.
We are thrilled to announce that from January 2025, three of our senior managers have been promoted to Director. They will join our current Directors: Gary Nicholls (Managing Director) and Martin Hembling (Commercial Director).
Read on to learn more about how these promotions will impact our team and to hear what our new Directors have to say about their new roles.

Abbey Maxwell – Director of Shared Services
During Abbey’s twelve years at Swiftclean, she has held several roles which have given her a broad perspective on the company’s operations. She began as Planning Manager, followed by Service Delivery Manager, National Service Manager and Business Innovations Manager. In March 2023 she was promoted to Head of Shared Services.
She says,
“I am excited about the opportunity to make a more meaningful impact at Swiftclean in my new role as director, and to further unite the shared services teams under my leadership, to drive the company forward toward its strategic goals.”
“Since joining the board, I have gained a deeper understanding of the company’s operations, and I am eager to inspire change and progress, propelling the company forward while putting our people first, as they are the heart of Swiftclean’s success.”

Matthew Saunders – Director of Sales
Matt joined as a Technical Sales Consultant in 2013, was promoted to Regional Sales Manager in 2017 and subsequently became National Sales Manager for Ventilation Services in 2022. In his new role as Director, he will be responsible for supporting, leading, and training both the ventilation and water sales teams. He will also oversee the sales strategy for the entire business and collaborate closely with all departments to ensure that the best possible service is provided to our clients.
“Being a director at Swiftclean means I have strategic responsibility for the whole sales team, supported by the other directors. I will work closely with all departments to ensure our services are delivered efficiently, profitably and most importantly, to the highest standard. By implementing some minor adjustments to our processes and training for the Technical Sales Consultants, we can enhance the service we deliver to our clients. In my new role, I will be able to support the team more effectively, assisting them not only from a sales perspective but also with a consultative approach to ensure our clients meet their compliance requirements.

Chloe Nicholls – Director of Operations
Chloe started in 2012 at Swiftclean as a Key Account Administrator, progressing to a Senior Key Account Manager, Surveying Services Manager and then Operations Manager in 2021.
The role of Head of Operations, which she took on in February 2023, meant taking on the overall management of the Service Delivery team including the warehouse and field staff.
Of her promotion to Director of Operations, she says,
“My responsibilities from an operational standpoint will remain the same, but I will focus on supporting our senior management team so they can effectively manage the operational team on a daily basis. My aim is to work more ‘on’ the business rather than ‘in’ the business, ensuring we have the right structure in place and concentrating on improving overall business performance to achieve our goals and targets.
As Director of Operations, I am responsible for all of our internal and field-based staff, including our fleet of vehicles and stores/warehouses. I will also now become more involved with the management of our health and safety.
I aim to support the business’s growth and profitability so that it remains financially secure – this will ensure that our staff are protected and have opportunities to grow with the company. I want to expand our teams, services and skillsets across the country – we are very much a health and safety and compliance-led business, so it is a priority to ensure our teams are sufficiently trained and audited to assess competency and compliance requirements, allowing the quality of our work to remain high within the industry”.
Managing Director, Gary Nicholls says, “Abbey, Matt and Chloe have already proved themselves as capable, organised, motivational senior leaders so it was a natural next step for me to promote them into director positions. I am confident that we now have an even stronger team to future-proof the business going forward”.
We sincerely wish them all the success as they continue in their careers and are eager to work together to create a brighter future for Swiftclean.
