Swiftclean BBQ and Sports Day 2024

We held our annual BBQ on a sweltering summer’s day in July at Rochford Hundred Rugby Club in Rochford, and this year, instead of a quiz, we created our own school sports event, even though most of us left school long ago.

The fun started after the 2024 Swiftclean Awards ceremony (already published in a separate blog). Races consisted of egg and spoon, relay, tug of war, a 3-legged race, and a race balancing a cone on your head – easier said than done!

Commandingly hosted and refereed by Lewis, everyone got truly into the competitive spirit – some more so than others as you can see from the photos.

Well done to the winning team, captained by Chloe Nicholls, which included Aaron Whiting, Luke Farrant, Ryder Corderoy, James Taylor, and Richard James.

We’ll be asking for suggestions for next year’s celebration so please put your thinking caps on.

We also held a raffle to raise funds for our 2024 charity of the year – Equal People Performing Arts which raised almost £200.

Each year, we support a different charity and at the BBQ, we announced that for 2025, our charity will be the Southend Hospital Spotlight Radiotherapy appeal which aims to raise £600,000 to fund ultra-precise, state-of-the-art radiotherapy positioning devices that provide set-up and motion management during radiotherapy treatment.

We’ll be running some fundraising events during 2025 so look out for notifications from the Social Committee.
