Frequently Asked Questions

How many nights are normally worked?

For our field-based compliance teams, such as those working on kitchen extract cleaning, approximately 70% of the work is done at night. However, during school holidays, we conduct a significant amount of work in schools, which is typically carried out during the day. In contrast, ventilation work and fire damper function testing are mostly daytime activities.

How far in advance are rotas issued?

The field compliance team receives a daily rota, giving them a clear 2-week snapshot of their upcoming tasks. This proactive approach allows them to plan ahead while remaining adaptable to any client requests or changes that may arise. It’s a flexible system that ensures the team is always ready to meet the needs of their clients.

Are overnight stays required?

Stayaways may occasionally be needed, but we strive to keep them to a minimum by having engineers strategically placed across the UK. This approach allows us to reduce the necessity for overnight stays. Whenever stayaways are required, they are planned in advance upon request, ensuring everyone has ample notice according to the advanced rota.

Are shifts normally eight, ten or twelve hours?

Shifts are 10 hours door to door, including travel. For example – a standard shift breakdown is 7.5 hours working time, with half hour unpaid break, and 2 hours for travel.

What overtime and subsistence payments apply?

Overtime is 1.5 x rate, over a 10-hour shift. Saturdays are paid at 1.5 x the rate. For Sundays and Bank Holidays, this is paid at double time. Subsistence is paid for using a company debit card, so no field staff need to pay for anything themselves upfront.

Is the company vehicle available for commuting?

Yes; for all supervisor roles, there will be a company vehicle provided for business use.
